Route 66 Centennial Dinner & Theatre Event
Enjoy a community dinner served by the Ash Fork 4-H Club at Ash Fork Joint Unified School District, followed by an original, interactive, family-friendly Route 66 to the Grand Canyon comedy presented live in Ash Fork by Theatrikos Theatre Company of Flagstaff, with pre-show remarks from playwright Peter Kerhaw.

Route 66 Centennial Cruise Parade & Community Car Show
Start the day by joining the Route 66 Centennial Cruise Parade, with lineup beginning at 9:00 AM at the Ash Fork Museum and the parade rolling out at 10:00 AM. After the cruise, participants are invited to park and display their vehicles as part of the Community Car Show, though car show participation is optional. Guests may choose to join the parade, display their vehicle, or do both. Participants will also receive a special Route 66 Commemorative Gift Pack, including a limited-edition centennial coin.

Chili Cookoff
The Chili Cookoff at the Ash Fork Historic Museum invites community members to bring their best recipe and compete for Route 66 bragging rights. Chili entries are due by 9:30 AM, with judging beginning at 10:00 AM. Open to anyone who would like to participate, this fun and flavorful contest is a chance to showcase your cooking skills and help us discover the best chili on the Mother Road. Whether you are entering or just cheering on the cooks, it is sure to be a crowd favorite.

Community Craft Fair, Music, Displays & Lunch
From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Event Center in front of the Ash Fork Historic Museum (901 Old Rt 66) will be filled with activity. Browse the Community Craft Fair featuring handmade goods and Route 66 memorabilia from local and regional makers, with no vendor fee to participate. Guests can also enjoy a vintage fire engine display, Route 66 music, and lunch. This lively hub will offer something for everyone throughout the day.

Ash Fork Route 66 Scavenger Hunt
Beginning at 11:00 AM, the Ash Fork Route 66 Scavenger Hunt offers a fun and interactive way to explore the event and community. Participants can pick up their clues at the Museum Entrance Information Table before setting out to solve the hunt. It is a great activity for families, visitors, and anyone who loves a little adventure. Those who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a special Route 66 gift pack, making this a memorable and rewarding way to experience the celebration.
Homemade Pie & Chili Sales
Starting at 11:30 AM inside the Museum, guests can enjoy one of the tastiest traditions of the day with Homemade Pie and Chili Sales. This is the perfect chance to sample delicious chili and a tempting selection of homemade fruit and cream pies. Whether you are looking for a hearty lunch, a sweet treat, or both, this stop offers a wonderful taste of community hospitality. It is a delicious way to support the event while enjoying some classic homemade favorites.
Live Flagstone Splitting Demonstration
At 12:00 PM, visitors can gather for a live Flagstone Splitting Demonstration and watch skilled craftsmen showcase a traditional Ash Fork trade. Using hand tools rather than saws, the demonstration highlights the time-honored technique of splitting stone by hand. This is a unique opportunity to see local craftsmanship in action and learn more about the skills that helped shape the area’s history. It is both educational and fascinating, offering a strong connection to Ash Fork’s working heritage.
Route 66 Storytelling & Music
At 1:00 PM, enjoy an afternoon of Route 66 storytelling and music that celebrates the spirit, history, and charm of the Mother Road. This special presentation will feature songs, stories, and reflections that bring the road’s culture and character to life. It is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, listen, and enjoy the rich memories and traditions connected to Route 66. Perfect for music lovers and history enthusiasts alike, this program adds a meaningful and entertaining touch to the day’s festivities.
Miss Centennial 66 Pin Up Contest
From 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Oasis Lounge, the Miss Centennial 66 Pin Up Contest will bring vintage flair and classic Route 66 style to the celebration. This special event highlights retro fashion, fun, and personality in a nod to the glamour and spirit of the era. Guests are invited to come enjoy the atmosphere, cheer on participants, and celebrate the timeless charm of vintage Americana. It is sure to be a lively and memorable part of the day’s lineup.
Route 66 Sock Hop
Wrap up the day from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ranch House Café, 83 W. Park Avenue, with a Route 66 Sock Hop full of music, dancing, and nostalgic fun. Guests can enjoy 1950s-era DJ music, shakes and malts, a taco food truck, and lively activities including hula hoop and limbo contests. Vintage attire is encouraged, making it the perfect chance to dress up and lean into the spirit of the era. It is a fun, family-friendly evening event to close out the celebration.
